Man arrested after stabbing near city park

An arrest has been made after a stabbing in Bath left a man with “serious” leg injuries.

Armed police and a helicopter were called to Redland Park at around 2.30pm on Sunday after reports of an assault.

It is thought a man was attacked next to the Redland Park allotments, in Twerton.

A man was taken to hospital from the scene and police said he suffered “serious” injuries to his leg.

Police have since said that a man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

A statement from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We arrested a 25-year-old male yesterday (June 1) on suspicion of wounding causing grievous bodily harm without intent. He has been released under investigat­ion.”

Access to the area was restricted by officers as an investigat­ion was carried out through the afternoon.

A police spokespers­on said on Sunday:“officers attended and found a male who had suffered a stab wound to the leg. His condition is described as serious and he has been taken to hospital by paramedics.”
