All working together to get behind RUH team

- Rhyannon Boyd Head of Fundraising The Forever Friends Appeal

With Covid-19 having a real and tangible impact on our fundraising mission, these challenging times remind us how grateful we are for our supporters.

Our business community has really stepped up to support the RUH.

Sadly many businesses have seen their income fade over the recent months, but they haven’t sat and waited for restrictions to lift or for rescue loans to be processed – they began donating goods and funds to our hospital, which is an incredibly generous act that won’t be forgotten.

As we start to work to “a new normal”, with people gradually returning to their workplace, I am inviting businesses to take part in our Make it Grow Corporate Challenge.

It’s a great team-building initiative that takes place over four months from October 1. So, if you run a business or work with many people this challenge is a great way to get staff working together as well as showing their support for our local hospital – the RUH.

To help get each company started, we will give them a £20 starter fund. The challenge is to make their £20 fund grow the most.

This year, tying in with the year 2020, we are introducing a series of 20 challenges that can be done with social distancing in place.

For instance, your team could set out to collectively walk or run 20 miles in a month, complete 20 exercises a day or give up something they love for 20 days.

Alternatively, you can come up with your own fundraising ideas – during last year’s challenge, initiatives included companies setting up staff tuck shops and holding quiz nights, with profits added to their fund.

One thing I have learnt throughout my career is that we all tend to work better when we enjoy working with our colleagues and that collaboration is king. Therefore, as we start to see staff returning to the workplace, having something positive that encourages team work and interdepartmental engagement, while having some fun outside work, can help staff work well together again.

If the Make it Grow Challenge appeals to your company, more details can be found on our website. I look forward to welcoming you on board.
