Chef gears up for drive-in cinema event

-

For anyone who was hoping to be able to go to the annual Pub in the Park foodie festival in Bath this year, your hopes were probably dashed when it was cancelled thanks to coronavirus.

But now the organisers, including celebrity chef Tom Kerridge’s team, are planning to bring a new drive-in movie experience, complete with an exclusive menu curated by the chef, for households to enjoy from the comfort and safety of their cars.

The event promises movies such as recent blockbusters 1917 and Knives Out, family favourites The BFG and Aladdin and drive-in classics Grease, Back to the Future and Jaws.

Guests will also be able to book exclusive stand-up sessions from Mark Watson’s Carpool Comedy Club, all via personal speaker systems that will be provided for each car and the world’s largest HD L E D screen.

Food will be served straight to your parking bay. Chef Tom, pictured above, said: “I am so excited to announce a great new event created to have a load of fun in a way that is safely suited to current times.

“Come and eat some good grub, catch some quality movies, and make some new memories with your loved ones.

“It’s the perfect trip out of the house!”

Dishes on the menu include a maple cured bacon cheeseburger, chicken tikka masala, five bean chilli vegan burrito and picnic boxes for adults and children.

Tasty dessert and drinks selections are also on offer.

Drive & Dine is suitable for all ages, with both daytime and evening viewings, organisers say.

To comply with government regulations and ensure a risk-free environment, cars will be spaced out.

All staff will also wear protective face wear and gloves, food and drink will be served using contactless methods and tickets will be sent electronically and checked from a distance.

Drive & Dine Theatre will be taking place from July 7 to 12 at Bath Racecourse

Tickets for screenings are on sale now and can be purchased at https://driveanddinetheatre.com

Each screening costs £17.50 for adults and between £5.50 and £7.50 for children.

Food options range between £4 and £15.
