Man uses cone to attack pub

-

A Bath landlady woke to find a man with a traffic cone smashing the window at her pub.

Ellie Leiper, who runs The Grapes on Westgate Street, tweeted that the pub’s front window had been broken by a “determined” man with a traffic cone on Wednesday, September 16.

Mrs Leiper, who runs the @Thebathlandlady Facebook account, said other establishments had also been damaged and that the culprit had since been apprehended.

Despite the damage, Mrs Leiper said there was a silver lining because the pane of glass that was smashed had been defaced by someone who had scratched their name onto it.

She tweeted at 6.30am: “Rude awakening this morning with our front window stoved in by a pretty determined bloke with a traffic cone.

“Not just us sadly but thanks to local security teams & police the culprit has been apprehended.

“It was the one pane of glass that truly annoyed me in the building as some t**t called Ivan had scratched his name into the pane, presumably with a ring or key, so at least that’s gone now #silverlinings.”

She said that she could, however, have done with a bit more sleep.

Locals offered words of support, along with advice on who to go to in order to fix the window.
