Cyclists like to make up their own laws

- Harry W. Barstow Julie Trollope

For example, EU Brexit negotiator M. Barnier’s statement that though an independent UK would have sovereignty over its territorial waters, she would have no sovereign control of the fish swimming in it.

Another reason in negating this international agreement was the EU threat to impose a food blockade on Northern Ireland, a sovereign part of the UK.

Well, the last occasion when such a blockade was imposed in Western Europe was by the orders of Mr Hitler on a Dutch province whose brave citizens assisted UK forces in the (alas) failed UK attempt to relieve Arnhem.

On a recent glorious cyclists were out in force.

I live opposite Sydney Gardens, and was out for quite a lot of the day, but stopped no less than 10 cyclists riding along the narrow pavement which is barely 2m wide!

Later in the day I saw 10 more, either riding along the pavement opposite, or along Sydney Place even when there was no traffic later in the day. One cyclist responded by rudely saying ‘go away.’

Bicycles are considered vehicles under British law, and it is illegal to ride a bike on a pavement which has not been designated as a cycle way.

Neither pavement along Sydney Place is a cycleway, but some cyclists like to make up their own rules and regulations to suit themselves, with no regard to the law, or safety of pedestrians, and of course due to encouragement from the government there are far more cyclists these days, so pedestrians have to be even more vigilant.
