‘Sofa singers’ to unite in concert

A Bath-based music man will unite hundreds of singers across the globe in a festive lockdown choir.

More than 900 singers had joined choir leader Grenville Jones’ weekly Good Afternoon Choirs across the West Country before lockdown.

Rehearsals then moved online via Youtube, alternating weekly with Ben England, from Bristol, and Matt Finch, from Bath, who previously took three Good Afternoon Choirs each week.

The online choir will soon start working on a Christmas concert that will feature Matt Finch and family as well as Grenville’s celebrated Bath Male Choir.

Grenville said: “Hundreds join us each week and ‘sofa singing’ in your own home is reaching out and helping many who are isolated and desperately missing their live choir singing with their friends.”

There will be carols for everyone to sing at home and some special seasonal items from the choir.
