Product’s a sign of the times

-

Two Bath inventors have now started selling their social-distancing product worldwide.

Harry Kimberley-bowen and Ronan Finnegan, both 25, invented Spacebands in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The wristbands light up, vibrate and beep when they get close to another band, alerting wearers to maintain social distancing. Since launching, the friends, who went to St Gregory’s Catholic College in Bath, have added more features to the bands, such as a contact tracing feature.

Harry says they funded the project from their own pockets and the product was launched at the end of June. He said: “I think the reason we’re getting more traction in manufacturing right now is employers are seeing getting them as an investment as opposed to having to shut down their whole factory.”

He added: “The size of the market is vast and it’s just me and Rowan trying to sell as much as possible at the moment.”
