Players record good scores on revamped course

Following extensive work on the course at the beginning of the month it was back to competitio­n play at Bath Golf Club.

Bath ladies played a medal competitio­n for the James Cup last week.

The winner of division 1 was Stephanie Anderson with nett 76, second was Mary Perkins with nett 77 and Linda Hill was third on nett 78. Division 2 was won by Ann Tonge with nett 74 with Phillipa Bevan second with nett 79 and Sue Morton-jenkins third on nett 79. The third division was won by Penny Ross with nett 73, second was Noeline Rose with nett 78 and third Rachel Brown with nett 80. The overall winner of the James Cup was Penny Ross.

Bath ladies also completed two knockout competitio­ns, firstly the Sheila Taylor foursomes was won by Anita Bye and Linda Hill who beat Jackie Forster and Susan Hull in the final. The Whittuck Cup is a singles competitio­n for handicaps 21-36 and was won by Helen Oliver who beat Ann Tonge in the final.

Bath seniors played in a stableford competitio­n for the RNLI Cup last week. The winner with a score of 42 points was Richard Mccabe, second on 37 points was Anthony Jones with Mark Charleswor­th third also on 37 points.

Bath men played a stableford competitio­n last Saturday in fine conditions. Leading the way in division 1 was Liam O’mara with an outstandin­g 43 points, second with a great score of 42 points was Andrew Brady with Edward Brown third on 41 points. Division 2 was won by Mark Daniels with 38 points, with Anthony Jones second on 36 points and David Taylor third, also with 36 points. Richard Walker won division 3 with 35 points, edging Chris Fry and Miles Williamson who both had the same score.
