It’s as if council doesn’t want us

Well done, Lucy Wildman and Rosemary Cox, for voicing my own feelings about the “terror attack measures” proposed for Bath. I also believe that a “terror attack” situation is being used as a devious, underhand way to urge more people to back the council’s wish to ban more cars from the city.

I live in a village just outside Bath with minimal transport options so the car is the only real way of visiting Bath, especially in the evenings or weekends.

There are many like me who have always enjoyed wandering around Bath, eating out and going to the theatre but will need to do it by car. There are probably very few teenagers who could cycle up the hill to Lansdown, let alone us.

Please wake up, council, and realise that if you want your businesses to receive enough custom in future to thrive you need to accept that a large number of people are going to need vehicular access to Bath. So rather than searching for reasons to close off more of the city you should perhaps be helping to find solutions to encourage people to keep coming. If you don’t, then you may have traffic-free streets but
