Mayor praises Pavilion team for ‘kindness and efficiency’

-

The mayor of Bath, Councillor Manda Rigby, is one of the latest residents to head to the Bath Pavilion for her Covid-19 vaccination.

Cllr Rigby visited the Bath Pavilion for her Covid-19 vaccine on Monday.

Huge numbers of people have now walked through the doors at the iconic Bath building to receive their vaccination.

She said: “It’s almost unbelievable that so many people will have been vaccinated at the Pavilion. Everyone I have spoken with has spoken of the professionalism, efficiency and kindness they have been shown.

“I am of the age group which has just been invited, and I’m really not the greatest fan of needles, but feel it’s really important for all our community to take up the vaccine. On behalf of the city of Bath, my deep heartfelt thanks to all who have made this incredible achievement happen.”

The Bath Pavilion centre is set to pass 25,000 vaccinations this week.

The service is provided by Bath and North East Somerset Enhanced Medical Services (BEMS) working with GP practices across Bath and North East Somerset.

Dr Andrew Smith, chief executive of BEMS and a GP at Combe Down Surgery, said: “We opened the site in January and have seen unbelievable levels of dedication and professionalism from primary care staff and volunteers from across B&NES, who have worked tirelessly to help us to get so many people vaccinated. Uptake of the vaccine has been very good.

“But it is still important to encourage anyone uncertain about having the vaccine in the eligible groups to come and visit us and we will make sure that we look after them and put them at ease.”

From March 22, the Pavilion site will start providing second vaccinations as well as continuing with first vaccinations for people in cohort nine (patients aged 50-54).
