Venue will be back with ‘one hell of a party’

After months of lockdown for the events industry, live music is returning to Bath with an exciting programme of big gigs in June and July.

Featuring a series of high-profile headline and support acts, each gig offers the choice of live audience attendance or a full production stream to watch at home.

The season kicks off on Friday, June 4, with acclaimed young altamericana act Noble Jacks, followed by Two Tone legend Neville Staple from The Specials on June 11.

July sees Komedia favourites Mad Dog Mcrea and Bristol urban heavyweights Laid Blak take the stage, with an established support act for each date.

All gigs will be seated and strictly limited in number, to fully comply with Covid-19 safety guidelines.

Each event will also be live streamed by the venue with a full production, multi-camera experience.

You can watch this from the comfort of your home with a ticketed link.

These shows will also be broadcast to venues around the country, providing content on big screens to socially distanced audiences.

The programme is a collaboration between Komedia, local gig and festival promoters Fuelled By Cider and booking agency Midnight Mango, supported by a National Lotteryfunded grant from Arts Council England.

As well as providing a high-quality night of live music for the public to enjoy, it will also bring much-needed employment to sound, stage and hospitality workers at Komedia and associated venues.

Dr Neville Staple said: “This will be our first show back in a long time, so we have really missed the fans and the live music so much.

“This will be one hell of a party, with sing-alongs, dancing and nostalgia. We’ll have a mix of my hits from The Specials, 2Tone and Fun Boy Three, along with other top ska, reggae and punky vibes. I can’t wait!”

His wife and fellow band member Sugary Staple said: “We adore the Bath area and some of the band live nearby, so this will be like a homecoming gig for some of them.

“We have a great fan base there, an iconic venue and a band ready to give you the best night ever. What a super way to start back out of lockdown restrictions. Bring it on!”
