Bath renters pay most for garden
House renters in Bath are paying more to have a garden than any other UK city, says new research.
Data from Paving Direct found having a green space adds 43 per cent to the cost of renting a home in the city. The average cost of rent was £975, but with a garden this went up to £1,395.50 in Bath.
The research looked at the average price of renting a three-bed home countrywide on Rightmove.
The data shows gardens add on average around 25 per cent more to the price of renting in the UK, with experts predicting that the rental price of homes with gardens will rise this year as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.
Second to Bath was Lancashire where gardens add 34 per cent to the rental cost, with Birmingham third at 32 per cent and London fourth at 27 per cent.
