-

Bristol Badgers’ first game of the 2021 baseball season will see them take on the Bournemouth Bears at Somerdale Pavilion this Sunday at Somerdale Pavilion in Keynsham.

The double header, which starts at 12pm, will be the Badgers’ first game in the British Baseball Federation’s (BBF) AAA league having stepped up a level to one below the National Baseball League.

“We have been training hard and had a good friendly against the Worcester Sorcerers but can’t wait to get started with competitive baseball again after last year,” said Rhodri Theaker, manager of the Badgers and club head coach.

“We have added a few new players who we are confident will go well at this level and we will be aiming to top the south west division and make it all the way to the national championships.”

Bristol Baseball Club’s other mixed teams are taking part in friendlies at the weekend before their South West and Wales Baseball League season starts on Sunday, May 16. The Bats are scheduled to travel to Weston on Sunday for a game against the Jets, whilst the Buccaneers and Brunels will face off in a club friendly on Saturday at Somerdale.

On Saturday, May 22, the Bobcats will travel to Cambridge for their first match in the BBF Women’s League with three players, Kat Golik, Molly Willcox and Beccy Cottrell, having recently trained with the GB Women’s Squad.
