Park launches its weekend mini-festivals

-

The first of a series of weekend festivals at Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park has taken place.

Tribute bands Metallica Reloaded, Guns 2 Roses and the Beatones played over the weekend to a socially distanced crowd.

Every weekend until August 21, Summer Sounds festival will bring some of the biggest tribute acts to Somerset including Fighters Foo, The Fillers, Ultimate Coldplay and Spice Forever.

The owners of the park Doug and Hannah Douglas are passionate supporters of independent artists and wanted to do something inside the park to help the events sector start to get back on its feet.

Doug said: “At what is a critical time, we have the outdoor location, facilities and operational experience to safely run some small capacity events.

“As well as supporting independent businesses we also believe that individuals need to get outside, enjoy each other’s company and more importantly start to socialise again if that is what they feel comfortable doing.

“One of most frequent comments we had about our Pumpkin Patch event last year was that it felt like some much-needed normality, we would love to facilitate that again to a wider demographic.

“The tickets are priced to cover costs, this isn’t a huge profit-driven enterprise for us, more one driven by passion for a struggling industry to help bands, music technicians, event equipment hire, local food producers and breweries and many others who have been without the usual supply of work since March 2020.” The event site along with food & drink outlets open from 5.30pm and onsite camping and glamping options are available.
