Add your weight to bid for full inquiry

-

Billionaire property developer the Fragrance Group has:

1 Triggered an appeal against the rejection of their last application;

2 Said that if the new application is also rejected, they will include that in the appeal as well.

They have registered a ‘Householder Appeal’ and the Inspectorate has accepted the classification.

This means that it will be treated as a straightforward case of no public interest whatsoever and means that they would be much more likely to win it.

But the Min is a historic listed building set in the heart of a World Heritage Site. There are multiple, complex issues related to the development and it is a matter of huge public concern, with nearly 500 objections submitted and hundreds signing an open letter.

According to the Inspectorate’s guidelines, due to the complexity of the issues and because of the huge public concern the case of the Min should go to a full inquiry.

We are advised that it can take up to 30 days to get a response to a representation to the Inspectorate.

Because the council notification to the public was so late this means it may be too late to change the classification.

We have asked the planning committee to make a representation to the Inspectorate as soon as possible to reclassify the appeal.

Whether you have submitted an objection or not, please sign the open letter which we can send to the inspectorate as evidence of the breadth of public concern.

Very good to read that the planning applicants who wish to develop the Min have already decided to “go to appeal” at least two weeks before their day in planning committee!!

This must mean that they already know that their application will be rejected when it comes up on 28th July.

This in turn indicates that they already know that their proposals are inappropriate for this building, in this city and that they are not persuasively presented.

Please, Fragrance, think again, start by agreeing with us that we need to keep all the green space and all of the fragrance of wild flowers and tree blossom that we can find in our city centre.

The abandoned car park has just about gone green and surely will before this hare has run its course! Dorian Baker Bath
