Traders return to artisan market around abbey
After months away, artisan and independent goods traders are preparing to return to Bath.
The Abbey Quarter Market will return on Sunday (July 25) with up to 36 traders selling a range of locally-produced/ethically sourced/independent goods on the streets around Bath Abbey.
Products will include handmade textiles, locally-produced food like cheese, chutney and cakes, handmade writing instruments, handmade homewares, handmade beauty products, candles, jewellery, art and more.
Despite resitrictions lifting, traders will still be supplying hand-sanitiser and be mindful of social distancing. They will also be taking Covid tests before trading.
The market is being organised by Bath Artisan Market and supported by Bath Abbey, Bath BID and Bath Council as well as the resident businesses in the area.
It will run from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, and on August 29, September 26 and October 31.
To coincide with the reopening of the market the traders have launched a new website with a map of the area to take visitors on a historical journey from the 1600s to the 21st century.
A copy of the map has been placed on the corner of York Street and Abbey Street to help tourists navigate their way around the area. It is also available online and at all the 56 independent businesses.
