All welcome at big kick-off as fans to return

-

If you have never been to a game at Bath City FC’S ground at Twerton Park perhaps now is the time.

Bath is renowned for being a rugby town but the city has a rich football history as well.

After 17 long months without spectators the club returns to action in style this Saturday, August 14, against Billericay Town and it will be an emotional affair after the year and a half we have all just had.

With a local tenor singing Nessun Dorma and band leading the crowd in a rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone there won’t be a dry eye in the house.

It is not just about the football, there will be entertainment for the kids as well, with music, ice cream and treats.

One of the city’s most revered residents, the legendary film maker Ken Loach, is a huge fan and he will be there to announce the winners of a video competition where local children were asked to make a film about their unsung hero.

Upon entry on Saturday everyone can pick up a free fixture card and the first 200 kids will get a free footie clapper or mini football.

Once inside supporters will be entertained by local duo Jiggidy and professional opera singer Anthony Flaum.

City general manager Carole Banwell said: “We’re so excited to be back in action at Twerton Park this Saturday and can’t wait to welcome fans old and new to the game.

“We’ve always wanted to make this a special occasion and we’re pretty sure the pre-match singing of You’ll Never Walk Alone and then Anthony treating us to Nessun Dorma will have the hairs standing up on the backs of everyone’s necks.”

The entertainment begins at 2.30pm and tickets can be bought online at www.bathcityfc.ktckts. com or pay at the gate.

Prices are: Grandstand – Adult £15, Senior £12, U18/student £9, U16 £5; Terrace – Adult £14, Senior £11, U18/student £8, U16 £3.
