The hills were alive with the sound of festival finale fun

-

Bath Festival finale weekend got underway Saturday and Sunday and it was a great success despite some wet and windy weather on the Saturday.

The rain did not dampen spirits and it was great to hear Mcfly and Scouting for Girls, as the crowd sang along to hit after hit, and the sound of music and merriment rang around the seven hills.

On Sunday the sun came out in the afternoon and stayed till sunset with people basking on their rugs, eating and drinking, listening to the music.

Fun Lovin’ Criminals were the highlight. Lead singer Huey, who lives in Bath, regaled the crowd with stories and sang all the well known tunes.

The crowd loved it, even if he did use a few expletives in the heat of the moment, it was all in good spirits to fit the mood of the day.

Although disappointed that UB40 had to pull out after a positive Covid test among the touring group, people got on with enjoying the first blasts of live music in the city for 18 months.

That was the spirit of the day – everyone was glad to be out, singing, dancing, bumping into friends old and new, enjoying the sunshine. It was a great day and evening, you felt lucky to be there, there was a lovely energy.

Billy Ocean was truly great. He performed all his great hits and everyone sang along. The show went on well into the darkness, with extra numbers to make up for the lack of UB40, and everyone loved him.

Well done to the organisers, everything seemed really safe, there was plenty of room for everyone, the staff were friendly and the toilets and other facilities were spotlessly clean and well run. It was a great day for Bath.
