No idea how to deal with consequences

-

Once again Councillor Warren reminds us as a prefix to her every letter that CAZS, active travel and LTNS are the solution to her oftrepeated data about air pollution. In my opinion this is designed to conceal the fact that she has little else to bring to the table, because the Lib Dems have rushed ahead with all their ill-researched traffic measures, without the slightest idea of how to deal with all the disastrous consequences. They lurch from sticking-plaster to fire-fighting, promise consultation, and codesign, but are really, in my opinion, completely clueless as to what they can now do to control the twoheaded beast they have unleashed. At least, judging by the level of penalty notices already issued, money will not be a problem when implementing any changes they stumble upon!

They failed to learn from the way the bus gate merely removed the congestion and pollution out to the residential suburbs. The revelation that other councils are now looking to B&NES for advice on how to implement their schemes is risible.

If Cllr Warren is so anti-pollution, why are there still almost empty double-decker buses trundling around, despite the end of socialdistancing, and no clear undertaking that Cleveland Bridge will never again be open to heavy lorries?

While on highways matters, though I support many re-greening measures, I feel uncut verges in residential areas just spread weeds into people’s gardens, and become an “impromptu canine defecation zone”. On the rest of roadsides the verbage reduces the road width, and often conceals damage to the margins where there are potholes (B&NES please note), and dislodged stones.

I have now entered the dates of the Christmas Market in my diary so that I can, like many other Bathonians, avoid Bath at all costs while it is running.
