Life lessons from mothers

-

A Bath mum has united 68 writers from around the world to co-author a book for children. In April this year Angharad Davies, founder of The Positive Motherhood Project, reached out on social media looking for mothers who would like to be included in a co-written book of messages on life lessons for their children. Meanings Over Milestones includes the stories of almost 70 mothers from around the globe and is a celebration of the life lessons and beliefs they want their children to learn from them, in order to help them navigate the ups and downs of life. Maria Honeker, a holistic health mentor and cancer survivor from High Littleton, has written a story called Anything Is Possible If Only You Believe. She didn’t hesitate at the opportunity to be involved in the project. Maria said: “Being faced with numerous challenges throughout my life, I could easily have given up on things so many times. I want my sons to know that even though life is filled with ups and downs, anything is possible if only we believe it is. “Just because we are faced by a massive challenge, it doesn’t mean there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever heartache and challenges our boys are faced with as they grow up and head out into the big wide world, I want them to remember that they can get through it with the right mindset and determination.” Angharad Davies, who is also the book’s editor, said: “As I read through the first drafts I started to realise that the life lessons mums hold most dear tend to be those born of their most difficult times. “I began to wonder how many mums actually share stories of their most vulnerable moments with their children. Do our children see just one side to our life story - our milestones? Do they get a perfectly edited version of our lives and ourselves? “I was fortunate to find so many mums who believed in my vision of communicating life meaning with our children. “It’s been an amazing journey and this is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for the book, the project and for how the profits from book sales will help children the world over.” All profits from book sales will go to funding grassroots projects tackling children’s emotional wellbeing. Mums who would like to share their own life lessons and messages can submit their stories for Angharad’s website at www.meaningsovermilestones.me
