It would be a crime to miss comedy thriller’s premiere

-

Bath’s multi-award-winning New Old Friends theatre company present their inventive new comedy thriller Crimes, Camera, Action at the Theatre Royal from Wednesday, August 25, to Saturday, August 28.

Premiering in Bath before a national tour in 2022, the latest instalment of their popular Crimes... series whisks audiences to goldenera Hollywood and introduces a new lead detective, Stan Shakespeare, a world-weary private eye in the mould of Humphrey Bogart.

When a screen starlet is accidentally stabbed on set as a result of an unfortunate mix-up of theatrical props, a typically fast-paced and madcap chain of events is set in motion which sees a cast of four comic actors take on multiple roles, sometimes within the same scene.

Feargus Woods Dunlop, from New Old Friends, said: “We couldn’t be happier to be returning to live performance at Theatre Royal Bath, a venue which has supported us from day one.

“We have always loved film-noir and knew we wanted to take the

Crimes... series into a slightly new world to give us fresh tropes to play with and new landscapes to create nonsense in.

“There is a slightly different structure to a Hollywood privateeye story than a cosy English crime tale and that has been great fun to explore. We are very excited to present this fresh spin on the popular Crimes... series.”

New Old Friends is an awardwinning theatre company dedicated to creating original comedy theatre, and run by husband and wife team Feargus Woods Dunlop and Heather Westwell.

Last year saw New Old Friends release the first in a new audio drama series, Comedy Whodunits For Your Ears, with the award winning Crimes Against Christmas charting at number two in the Apple itunes Fiction chart, as well as featuring on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row.

Tickets for Crimes, Camera, Action are on sale at the Theatre Royal Bath Box Office on 01225 448844 and online at www.theatre royal.org.uk
