Brewery bar to open after Covid delay

Brewdog has confirmed when it will be opening in Bath after staff self-isolating pushed back the grand launch.

The brewery had been due to open on Wednesday, July 23, in St Lawrence Street, just inside the Southgate Shopping Centre in the old Absurd Bird unit.

But the grand opening date was pushed back as staff were “pinged” and told to self-isolate by the NHS Track and Trace app.

The bar will now open at midday tomorrow and will be offering the first 100 people through the door the chance of winning a year of free beer.

In a statement the company said: “Brewdog Bath is now opening this Friday at 12pm.

“We’re also running a fun activation to celebrate the opening whereby the first 100 people through the doors will be in with a chance of winning a free year of beer and some other awesome prizes.

“We had to delay the initial opening date as a number of our staff were isolating or had been pinged by the NHS Track & Trace app.”

The bar will be kitted out with 28 taps pouring beer from Brewdog and other guest breweries alongside a menu of monster burgers, buffalo hot wings, salads and brunch.

Guy Henderson, centre director at Southgate Bath, said: “Brewdog is one of the best-known and most popular craft beer brands in the UK, so it’ll be a great addition to our leisure offering at Southgate Bath.

“I’m sure it’ll be a popular choice with our visitors when it opens!”
