Mark celebrates 15 years of fan films with special episode

-

Mark Bray, from Bath, is leading a team of 40 creatives to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his fan films.

The group have just completed their latest series of Doctor Who fan films which is available to watch on Youtube on the channel “mbhomeland”.

Mark, pictured, said: “My whole life, I have been inspired by Doctor Who.

As a result I have built up quite a big following making these films on Youtube.”

Mark has been making fan films since the age of eight.

He is now 23 and working on the 15-year anniversary special, which will be released on his channel on Saturday, August 28, at 7pm.

He said: “The reason I keep making these is because I love to entertain people. Doctor Who brings people a lot of joy and I want to recreate that.”

Mark began making these fan films along with his next-door neighbour Tom Skinner, who had just bought a camera for his 13th birthday.

Mark said: “Since then we have built quite a team, going from just two of us back then, now with 40+ people set to appear and help out in our latest series.

“We’ve taken our ‘dismantlable’ police box all over the place! From railway preservation societies to just down the local woods. “We’ve created historical episodes such as meeting Alan Turing, but also travelled to alien worlds (aka: trying to make a forest or quarry look like an alien world).”

He continued: “Covid did play a big factor in our latest series, causing delays, cast reshuffles and much more. Luckily we were all able to pull through it and make a series we are proud of.” The series has been airing on Youtube every Saturday since July 3. There has been a total of six episodes. The season finale featured life-sized Daleks which the team have kept quiet for a long time. Mark said: “It came as quite a shock to most of the fans... Our plans are to make this our last Doctor Who Fan series on Youtube.”
