Bath business Wood for Trees has announced the appointment of data scientist Quentin Sorel and marketing manager Naomi Hurst.

The data agency is strengthening the team, with the aim of expanding the reach of its Insighthub benchmarking and reporting tool.

Mr Sorel’s role will be critical in the development of more predictive algorithms within Insighthub, enabling charity supporter data to be automatically scored and ranked across a range of desired outcomes.

Mr Sorel hails from southern France where he qualified with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, followed by a master’s degree in data science, applied mathematics and statistics in 2018.

Mr Sorel has garnered significant expertise working as a business intelligence consultant for a French luxury fashion brand and data scientist for a Uk-based telematics technology company.

He said: “Since starting work at Wood for Trees, I’ve found it a rewarding experience working with charities, helping to improve their decision-making processes and the success of their donor marketing campaigns by developing and implementing advanced prediction models and providing actionable insight.”

An associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Naomi Hurst brings a wealth of experience in PR and marketing to her new role, aiming to help increase the user base of Insighthub to ensure more charities can benefit from the application of its new features. Miss Hurst has worked within in-house and agency PR and marketing teams in several industries over the last few years, including with an agricultural charity and CIC.

She said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with some fantastic brands, businesses and people during my career, some of which are in the charity and non-profit space. I’m delighted to be working with Wood for Trees in my newly created role to help continue to grow the agency’s presence and client base in the third sector.”

Managing director Jon Kelly said: “Quentin and Naomi join Wood for Trees at a crucial time of business growth and expansion of our offerings to our clients and the sector.”
