Awards return to salute our city’s success stories

-

After a two-year break the Bath Business Awards are to return later this year to recognise the achievements and resilience of the local business community during the pandemic.

The event, which was not held last year due to Covid-19, is set to take place on Wednesday, November 10, at Bath Pavilion.

Businesslive and its sister website Somersetlive and newspaper the Bath Chronicle are looking for companies that deserve to be recognised in a year like no other.

During an eventful year for the city, which saw the introduction of a clean air zone and the awarding of its second Unesco World Heritage Status, there have been many Bath business success stories, as many firms emerged from lockdown restrictions.

From companies such as Lovehoney building global business empires to independent businesses like Electric Bear Brewing confounding the odds against them to grow online sales during the pandemic, there has been much to celebrate within the Bath business community. When the event was last staged in 2019, also at Bath Pavilion, renewable energy supplier Pure Planet took home the prizes for Business of the Year and Start Up Business Of The Year.

Since its double success the fastgrowing company, which employs 180 staff at its head office in Bath, has gone on to win further accolades including being named by Best Companies as one of the top firms to work for in the South West.

Businesses from across the city are now able to put themselves and their staff forward for this year’s Bath Business Awards - in partnership with returning headline sponsor Bath-based internet service provider Truespeed.

Any public, private or third-sector organisations can enter, regardless of size or industry.

The awards also reward individual talent with categories for entrepreneurs who have successfully grown their business or outstanding employees whose efforts have stood out this year.

Evan Wienburg, chief executive of Truespeed, said uniting Bath’s business community and supporting local companies had “never been more important”.

He said: “The Bath Business Awards ignite a huge sense of camaraderie and after an incredibly difficult period it’s vital to support our fellow Bath businesses.

“Truespeed is thrilled to be supporting the awards for our third consecutive year and look forward to celebrating the inspiring businesses and talented individuals we have right here on our doorstep.”

This year’s awards will also include the Tourism and Hospitality Resilience Award category, to honour a Bath business in that especially beleaguered sector that has had to overcome severe challenges during the pandemic.
