Fines for Covid rules breaches
Nineteen people were recently fined for Covid lockdown breaches in one day at Bath Magistrates’ Court.
Offences dealt with included a middle-aged woman meeting up with six others in a supermarket car park as well as teenagers attending gatherings in a Bath hotel. They were all caught by Avon and Somerset Police.
Some were locals while others had crossed county borders to break coronavirus restrictions.
On October 14, the following people were among those fined:
■ Vanessa Kaasik, 18, of New King Street in Bath, was fined more than £1,700 for taking part in a gathering in the Travelodge Hotel in Bath on March 27. The gathering consisted of more than two people and Kaasik was fined £1,760, with an extra £176 to the victims’ services and £90 in court costs.
■ Bethany Wetherill, 18, of Dorset Street, Twerton, was fined £166 for taking part in an indoor gathering at the Travelodge in Bath on March 27. On top of the fine she has to pay £34 to the victims’ services but no court costs.
■ Joe Mazza, 31, of Alderley Road in Bromsgrove, was fined £1,760 for taking part in a private gathering in Glastonbury on February 5. The gathering had two or more people and on top of the fine he has to pay £176 to the victims’ services and £90 court costs.
■ Clarissa Bicknell, 46, of Penlea Avenue in Bridgwater, was fined £1,760 for taking part in an outdoor gathering in a Morrisons store car park on April 25. The meeting consisted of more than six people and on top of the fine Bicknell had to pay £90 court fees and £176 to the victims’ services.
■ Marcin Kolanko, 31, of Sand Hill in Brislington, had a gathering at a property which had two or more people in attendance on January 18. He was fined £2,220 with an additional £190 to the victims’ services and £90 in court costs. It has to be paid by November 11.
