‘A hard-working man who gave his all in life’
Former Bath City forward Marvin Morgan has died aged 38.
Marvin represented the Romans 65 times between 2016 and 2017, scoring 13 goals.
He was signed by Gary Owers and departed shortly before Jerry Gill’s arrival as manager. Gill resigned him in October 2017 following a brief stint at Hampton & Richmond Borough before he left for Hendon three months later.
Marvin’s death was announced on Monday with several former notable footballers, teammates and clubs sharing their condolences on social media. The former experienced front man represented 17 clubs in a 20-year career before hanging up his boots last year to concentrate on his teenage fashion brand Fresh Ego Kid, which he formed in 2011, with his label represented by footballers like Raheem Sterling, Emile Smith Rowe and Romelu Lukaku, and endorsements from good friend and heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
In late 2019 Marvin formed Fresh Ego FC, a football team including celebrities, with an aim to tackle mental health, racism and life after football.
The Manchester-born player lived in Hertfordshire during his time at Bath, and during his spell at the club set up a charity match for those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
He drove to West London hours after the accident donating clothes and other supplies.
Bath City manager Jerry Gill used his programme notes for this weekend’s match to pay tribute to his former player:
“Marvin was a bright, intelligent and hard-working man who knew what he wanted and gave his all in life.
“Sleep easy big man, someone else who has been taken way too early.
“All of our thoughts are with his family.”
The club will encourage supporters to join in applause for Marvin in the 38th minute of Saturday’s match with Hungerford Town.
