Fixtures give goal action

It was back to league action for the Bath & District Football League clubs this weekend, on another Sunday that only saw two teams take clean sheets, from a respective seven massive fixtures.

Though the hosts PF Loco denied visitors Bath United anything from this one in the end, it didn’t stop United making it a tasty encounter. Norris for Loco and Brown for Bath had this one all level and in the balance with ten minutes to go, then a United man saw red and it was too much with ten men as Book scored the winner.

Batheaston came, saw and conquered by beating struggling Lansdown 6-1. The hosts scored through Dennis but ultimately it didn’t change anything as Benjamin and Norris got two each with Myrie and Matthews hammering the final nails in the coffin of Lansdown.

A very tight affair in Division Two brought one of those clean sheets, but Kirkham made sure that was only for his Gringos team as Olympic Victoria suffered a 1-0 defeat at home. Griffin hosted leaders Dunkerton and scored late on to level things up for the hosts after Mulholland scored for the travelling team with a 100 per cent record. It nearly meant there was a dent in that record but the side looking likely for back-to-back championships scored in the dying moments to snatch the win.

Probably one of the quickest goals ever scored for Team Nathan from Spurrey put them 1-0 up inside a minute against Farrington Albion, but they didn’t capitalise on good possession and Albion levelled things by the break from a well-worked corner.

After the break, bare XI Nathan let rip, Stevenson with a brace both assisted by Rowlands, with Payne-blackmore playing an important flick in the first - and for 4-1 Rowlands himself scored a beauty from outside the box after Manning found him lurking.

With seven to go, Payne-blackmore found debutant Maxell Francis on the edge of the box and he picked his spot, curling into the near-post fantastically. A penalty to Farrington finished it 5-2.

Nathan’s Reserves in the bottom division didn’t have the same luck - also having a bare XI and finishing with nine through injury - they travelled to Heritage Reserves and lost 7-0. Scorers were Richards (3), Doell (2), Uppal and Davis.

Leaders Puckle Vale continue to impress after a hat-trick from Densley, was increased by Fear and Iles for a 5-2 win at Two Weir Town.
