Seconds go nine unbeaten

Team Bath Buccaneers 2nd moved to nine games unbeaten in the West Area Men’s Premier Division. They were able to hold off hosts Whitchurch to win 2-0 against the secondplac­e side and move to within two points of them and three off leaders Cardiff & Met 2nd in fourth.

The Third Team matched that scoreline in victory at home to Marlboroug­h in Division One North to make it 12 unbeaten as they jointtop of the division, but third on goal difference by just four strikes in a tight battle at the top.

The Fifth side stopped a run of four straight defeats with a 2-2 draw at Chippenham 2nd in Division Two East.

The point moves Buccs seven points clear of bottom side City of Bath 2nd who remain without a point after a 9-3 defeat at leaders Royal Wootton Bassett. Buccs 4th were beaten 5-3 at home to Lansdown as they suffered a fourth consecutiv­e loss.

Concorde Division One leaders Keynsham continued their unbeaten campaign with a 4-2 victory over third-place Old Bristolian­s 3rd, however they still only remain a point ahead of Clifton Robinsons 4th who do have a game in hand. Buccs 6th lost 4-1 at Old Bristolian­s 2nd.

Keynsham 2nd won their first game since October 9 after beating Concorde Division Two third-place Westbury & United Banks Wanderers 4-2, moving them up to third from bottom on goal difference with Bristol Firebrands 6th.

In Saxon Division One, Corsham maintained their gap to leaders Swindon 2nd to two points with a 3-0 victory at West Wilts 2nd, Swindon had beaten Buccs 7th 4-1. City of Bath 3rd drew 2-2 at home to Chippenham 3rd to move a point ahead of second bottom Cirenceste­r 3rd.

Corsham 2nd were beaten for the first time in four games, 3-1 at home to Saxon Division Two second place Swindon 3rd.

In the women’s leagues, Buccs 2nd held on to their one point lead at the top of the Premier Division after winning 2-0 at Gloucester City 2nd. The Third Team have been able to extend their lead at the top of Division Two East to six points after narrowly beating second place Marlboroug­h 2-1.

Another side at the top of their division is Keynsham as they continue to lead by four points after beating Dursley 4-1. The Third Team won 2-0 at Wick 3rd in Berkeley Division Three to end a run of four games without victory, while the Second Side suffered a 3-0 loss at Buccs 4th in Whitehorse Division One.

Buccs remain three points off leaders North Wilts, with Keynsham second bottom. Corsham 2nd drew 3-3 at Chippenham 3rd.

The inter-club derby in Whitehorse Division Two saw Buccs 5th beaten 5-4 by Buccs 6th to move level on points, although the Fifth Team have a game in hand. Corsham 3rd enjoyed a 6-1 win at Marlboroug­h 2nd to sit third.
