-

Staff at an opticians in Bath have raised nearly £1,800 for Bath Foodbank.

Workers at Specsavers on Westgate Street collected 12 raffle prizes from generous local businesses for their festive ‘12 Days of Christmas’ raffle to give away in the lead up to Christmas and raised a total of £1,796.

“We’re thrilled with the final amount raised for the foodbank,” said Phil Lodge, store director at Specsavers Bath.

“So many people rely on its services over Christmas, and it’s great to know we made a difference to people who would’ve struggled otherwise.”

“We want to thank the local businesses for their incredible generosity, as well as anyone who bought a ticket for supporting the cause,” he said.

The prizes included a three-course lunch for two at Chez Dominique, an afternoon tea box for two from Giddy Flamingo, two tickets for the Theatre Royal and ice-skating tickets for Bath on Ice.

The team also got competitive among themselves, with the top three ticket sellers (dispensers Dean Kelly, Joshua Gaisford and Lee Mcginn) winning boxes of chocolates.

In total, the store sold just shy of 900 ticket strips in aid of the foodbank, which needed extra support over the festive period.
