Squad revels in success
The girls’ squad from the Baskervilles School of Gymnastics stormed to success at the Regional and County Grades competition held at Wiltshire School of Gymnastics over the weekend.
In Round One, the Grade 5 competition saw eight-year-old Chloe Gough excel on all five pieces of apparatus leading her to take home the gold medal. She was joined on the podium by teammate sevenyear-old Hetty Vaughan-james who clinched bronze following a string of superb performances.
The Grade 6 competition saw Rubie Parteger wow the judges across the board and receive gold; she shared the podium with teammate eight-year-old Ruby-rose who took home silver after a fantastic set of routines. Eight-year-olds Evie Thyer, Sky, Daisy Wolfe, Mia Hawtin and seven-year-old Eliza Stone were all commended by the judges for their efforts and successfully passed their grades.
Round 2 saw more medallists from Baskervilles. In the Club Grade 5 competition, nine-yearold Hettie-jean Wilson-worgan performed confidently on all pieces of apparatus and was awarded silver, closely followed by training partner nine-year-old Phoebe Mitchell who received a welldeserved bronze. Eight-year-old
Florence Aust and nine-year-old Willow Thomas passed their grade with a distinction and nine-yearolds Rosie Dobson and Sophie Sweetman passed with commended.
Round 3 saw more success for the Baskervilles Team. 12 year-old Olive Courtney-bye finished with a phenomenal silver, closely followed by teammate 12-year-old Beth Turner who received a hardearned bronze; both gymnasts performed beautifully on all apparatus throughout the Regional Grade 4 competition.
Fellow 12-year-olds Isabelle Lloyd and Sophie Knapp and 11-year-olds Grace Witcher and Zara Whetherly all received distinction for their grade. Phoebe Lewis for received a commended award.
Baskervilles thanked their squad coaches Fran Baskerville, Rachel Down, Surya Bhamidimarri and Kiera Williams for their hard work preparing the girls for the competition.
Head squad coach Fran said: “It was such a brilliant day watching the girls perform so confidently - I am really proud of every gymnast’s performance at the weekend”.
Baskervilles also thanked Amy Hartnell-saunders and Surya Bhamidimarri for judging on the day.
