The Dark comes to life on stage at The Egg

-

A children’s story by Lemony Snicket about overcoming fear is touring to Bath this Saturday.

The Dark, presented by Peut-être Theatre, is coming to the Egg Theatre this Saturday, March 5, for two performances at 11.30am and 3pm.

The stage production for children aged over five years, which is adapted from Lemony Snicket’s book of the same title, combines live and recorded music and a mesmerising soundscape with physical theatre and storytelling.

Laszlo is afraid of the dark. The dark lives in the basement. It doesn’t visit Laszlo in his room.

Until one night it does. In a captivating and accessible new show, families can join Laszlo on his journey to confront and befriend his fear, and find out why the dark will never bother him again.

Peut-être Theatre merge vibrant physicality with live music in their latest production for the whole family. The Dark is performed by Charlie Hendren and Ellie Isherwood and directed by Daphna Attias, artistic director of Peut-être Theatre, with movement direction from Ayse Tashkiran.

The Dark is accessible for blind and visually impaired children with integrated audio description.

Audience members can book in advance to join the Peut-être Theatre company for a free Touch Tour of the set at 2pm, before the 3pm performance of The Dark.

Internationally renowned Lemony Snicket is the pen name of writer Daniel Handler, author of many children’s books, including A Series of Unfortunate Events, a set of novels which has been translated into more than 40 languages. His book The Dark was published in 2013.

Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Royal Box Office on 01225 448844, The Egg on 01225 823409 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk/ whats-on/
