Race now on to enter popular 10k rural run

-

The Chew Valley 10k race is only weeks away, so it’s time to sign up as either a marshal or runner.

Almost 300 runners have already entered the scenic, rural event, which takes place on Sunday, June 12, at 9.30am, so don’t delay if you’re hoping to enter as it sells out every year.

The race, which raises funds for causes and local schools, begins at Bishop Sutton Village Hall and anyone over 15 can enter. Entry costs £22, or £15 for 15-18 year-olds. The fee includes a medal and the option of a T-shirt, exclusively available to entrants who book a place by the end of April.

Chew Valley School head Gareth Beynon said: “We are grateful for the generous donations received over many years from the Chew Valley 10k.

“These funds have helped us provide student counselling, revision sessions, Ten Tors equipment and many other necessary resources.

“Our teachers and students have run and supported the event as marshals and helpers, plus our talented young design students compete to create the design for the race T-shirt.”

Local doctor, broadcaster and comedian Dr Phil Hammond has provided commentary for every race since the beginning.

Over the past decade over £15,000 has been donated to both the Bishop Sutton Primary School and Chew Valley School providing equipment and wellbeing support.

This year, to celebrate its 10th birthday, there are ten good causes and charities benefitting.
