Arrival of spring heralds a greater number of events
As spring arrived, the competitions and events at Bath Golf Club have increased.
The ladies played a 9-hole Stableford at the end of last month in damp, changeable weather and the winner of Division One with 15 points was Fay Galley, who beat Angela Trenchard by a point after edging Jane Osborne on countback. Jane Franke was top of Division Two with 17 points, one better than Heather Cottle who in turn was one ahead of Kathy Ogden.
Last week, the ladies also played a Threeball Bowmaker plus Me Too competition in fine competitions. Scoring was very good with three teams all scoring 56 and needing countback to determine the winners. Top sport went to Kathy Ogden, Heather Cottle & Jenny Conway ahead of Catherine Hughes, Louise Blake & Alison Gardener and Stephanie Moorfoot, Jill Carter & Louise Buxton.
Sunday saw the first mixed event of 2022. Twenty teams signed up
and the weather, although breezy, stayed dry. The course was in great shape thanks to head greenkeeper Tom and his team. Scored were very respectable, with the winners Mike Charlton & Janet Tope scored 38 stableford points. They were one ahead of Maurice & Rose Paterson who beat Robert Clark & Claire Mccathie on countback.
Following the competition, Gerald and clubhouse team served everyone a delicious dinner prepared by chef Marcus.
The men played a Pairs Bowmaker Stableford with both scores counting. Despite the showery weather, scoring was very good
with winning pair Steve Francis & Keith Lunt scoring 70 points. They were two better than Jerry Shrubb & James Portman who in turn finished two ahead of Richard Longhurst & Paul Wainwright.
