Fine weather, fine score

-

As spring arrived, short sleeves have been the order of the day during the fine weather in recent weeks at Bath Golf Club.

The ladies played a Foursomes and Australian Spoons this week. The winning pair with a fine score of 41 stableford points were Louise Blake & Alison Gardener, two ahead of Rosemary Paterson & Ann Tonge with Jane Franke & Ann Hitchin third on 37.

Over the winter, the ladies ran singles and foursomes round robin competitions instead of knock-outs in order to play several fun, meaningful matches in the colder months. It was a challenge fitting all the matches in and a few went beyond the 18th and ultimately finished in darkness.

The winner of this year’s single competition was Tonge, with Sue Morton-jenkins & Linda Mchugh claiming the pairs.

The men played a Fourball Betterball Stableford on Saturday, with 39 pairs competing. Fine weather with an easterly breeze made conditions interesting but top of the pile with a great score of 46 were Mark Daniels & Luke Mattiussi, just one point clear of Patrick Rogers & John O’mara with Mark Oliver & Keith Lunt were third on a number of scores of 44.

With the change to British Summer Time, the bar at the club will be open until 8pm Monday-saturday and until 7pm on Sundays. The kitchen will close for food at 5pm Monday-saturday and 4pm on Sundays. From next Friday, the clubhouse will be open for drinks and breakfast from 8am so you can arrive early and relax before your round.

You can also arrange a meal afterward from Bath’s fine catering team who will also be providing Sunday lunches fortnightly from April 10 onwards. For all catering enquiries, contact manager Gerald by emailing gerald.munzara@ bathgolfclub.org.uk or call 01225 463834.
