Step up to challenge to raise vital funds for cats and dogs

-

Bath Cats and Dogs Home is challenging us all to ‘step up’ and help its rescue pets during May.

Participants in a virtual challenge can raise vital funds to support the home’s care of rescue cats and dogs, by walking, running, cycling, rowing or even dancing as many miles as possible.

The Step Up for Rescue Pets challenge will appeal to fitness fans, animal-lovers, pet-owners or any anyone just wanting to support Bath Cats and Dogs Home.

Entrants will be clocking up the miles with their favourite fitness activity either in a group or as an individual with the goal of reaching a collective target of 3,000 miles.

“My plan is to run 5k a day in May and then continue my training until the Bath Half in October,” said Georgia Larsen-baker, an animal carer at Bath Cats and Dogs Home.

“I love working as an animal carer for the home and although there are hard, sad and stressful times caring for sick or frightened animals, I always enjoy coming to work.

“Please join me by taking part in this challenge or donating to help fund the care of vulnerable animals.”

There is an international theme to the challenge as for each landmark of mileage achieved by those taking part, participants will be sent interesting facts about some of the dog breeds being cared for at the home and the countries those breeds originally came from.

Will the challenge entrants make it as far as the Labrador breed from Canada or will they reach the Rottweiler breed from Germany perhaps?

Participants are invited to share videos and photos of their challenges on a Facebook group set up by the home’s fundraising team.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes cats and dogs. The charity needs to raise over £1.8million every year to continue its animal welfare work.
