The Ustinov Studio’s Visiting Company Season brings a variety of comedy, drama and music through the coming weeks.

In The Weeds is a haunting thriller set on a remote Hebridean island. Kazumi is hunting a sea monster, but instead finds a blossoming relationsh­ip with Coblaith, whose family have lived on the island for generation­s. But as he grows suspicious of his new lover’s obsession with the lochs, could it be that she is the mythical creature he believes drowned his family, or are the humans the real monsters after all…? (June 9)

Katie Arnstein makes her Ustinov debut with her empowering and enlighteni­ng comedy Sexy Lamp (June 10), followed by the return of James Rowland with his uplifting and heart-warming new show Learning To Fly, his first show since the acclaimed Songs of Friendship in 2020. (June 11)

Chris White’s Moist, Moist, Moist is part poetry, part stand-up and part gig as he explores love, sex and the sea, with live music from Hall Kelly and plenty of fishy puns. (June 16). Push is the fiercely funny solo show asking what you do when you’ve made the brilliant decision NOT to have children and then find yourself pregnant at the age of 38…? (June 18)

The Dance Of Death, the brand new adaptation of August Strindberg’s acclaimed black comedy about a marriage pushed to its limits, stars Lindsay Duncan, Hilton Mcrae and Emily Bruni, and runs from May 19-June 4.

The Egg Theatre

The Egg’s renowned programme of children and family shows include the much-loved book Handa’s Surprise, brought to life by Egg favourites Little Angel as a half-term treat (ages 2-5, May 31-June 4), and Bath Spa Production­s present Rats Tales, mixing traditiona­l European fairy tales with some brand-new stories by ex-poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy (ages 8+, June 9-11). The Forest of the Imaginatio­n’s Living Tree returns to give children and families the chance to explore a fun-filled forest and magical mirror maze installati­on with an integrated creative learning programme (all ages, June 18-July 2).

The autumn term begins with beautiful puppet theatre in Woodland Tales (age 3+, Sept 17 and 18) and We’re Going On A Bear Hunt (age 2-6, Sept 27-Oct 1). Join Atom And Luna in Murray Lachlan Young’s adventure story (age 7+, Oct 8 and 9), and experience the joy of dancing like nobody’s watching with Is This A Dance? (age 4-11, Oct 15 and 16).

Bird In The Window is a joyous and energetic show about spending time together and childhood memories (age 5+, Oct 22 and 23). Our youngest audiences will love meeting tooob, an enchanting wordless sensory adventure for babies and toddlers (age 6-24mths, Nov 3-6). As Christmas approaches, join Jina And The Stem Sisters for a new multi-media musical puppet show empowered by some of history’s super-stem women (age 7+,

Nov 9-12), and in December Five Children And It is back by popular demand, last Christmas’s triumphant adaptation of E Nesbit’s much-loved children’s tale (age 6+, Dec 9-Jan 15).

For older children, Destiny is the endearingl­y edgy story of Destiny’s bid to get from the housing estates of Chippenham to an MTV backing dancer (age 14+, Sept 22), and the TRB Theatre School present David Lane’s powerful drama of pride, duty and responsibi­lity, I Am England (age 12+, Nov 24-26).

The students of Bath Theatre

Academy showcase their newly honed skills in It Snows & The Wardrobe, a double bill of playful dramas (age 12+, May 12 and 13), Joy Wilkinson’s exploratio­n of suffrage The Sweet Science Of Bruising (age 12+, May 19-21) and Stephen Sondheim’s darkly comic Sweeney Todd (age 12+, May 26-28).
