Bible can help you live through crisis

-

“The climate disaster is here. Earth is already becoming unliveable” – The Guardian

Mankind faces a crisis of its own making. Most scientists agree that human activity is responsible for global warming. This rise in temperature has already changed the climate and brought rising disastrous consequences which include – more frequent and intense weather events, such as heatwaves, droughts, and storms, which in turn cause more floods and wildfires, melting glaciers and Artic ice and rising sea levels.

There are many who are genuinely distressed by what is happening around them and fear for the future of humanity, animals, birds, bees and wildlife generally.

The climate crisis has affected every corner of the earth and after documenting conditions in 193 countries, a New York Times report stated “The planet is sending an SOS”. Because of the death and suffering climate change has caused the World Health Organisation has called it the “single biggest health threat facing humanity”.

HOWEVER, we have reason to look to the future with hope. The Bible foretold events that we are seeing today as well as why we can expect God to act and what he will do to protect our future.

Does climate change fulfil Bible prophecy? YES together with war on a large scale, famine, great earthquakes, disease, crime, ruination of the earth, deteriorating attitudes, breakdown of the family, diminished love of God, religious hypocrisy, increasing understanding of Bible prophecies, a global preaching work, widespread apathy and ridicule when it comes to the Bible (for the majority).

Jesus prophesied that we would see “fearful sights” or “strange and terrifying things” (Luke 21:11). Will the earth become unliveable? NO.

God created the earth to be mankind’s permanent home (Psalms 115:16, Ecclesiastes 1:4). Rather than allow humans to destroy it, he will bring to ruin those ruining the earth” as he has promised (Revelation 11:18). Consider just two prophecies that show what else God has promised:god will not let the earth become an unliveable desert, but he will restore its damaged areas (Isaiah 35:1) and the earth will be restored to its original/paradise condition (Psalms 65:9).

Adam and Eve were perfect and obedience rather than independence was all that was required to enjoy life forever. They made the wrong choice and here we are (Jeremiah 10:23) – independence from God will never work and thousands of years have proved this.

The Bible can help you cope with extreme weather before, during and after with much practical advice and not that old, out of date book full of myths, legends and good stories.

It’s the only book in the world that is inspired by God and nothing matches its wisdom and good advice (2 Timothy 3:16,17).

If you study and understand what the Bible says then it helps with day to day living in what is a very unstable world at the moment that is bombarding us all with so many challenges too numerous to mention.

Please give it head and heart room is all I will say and I would be more than pleased to answer any questions and do Bible research on any given subject.
