Signs concern in plans for Zara store
Clothing brand Zara could open its first store in Bath amid a retail reshuffle in the city centre.
Plans have been submitted to the council, for a new shopfront and signs at Boux Avenue - a ladies’ lingerie store on Southgate Place. This will “facilitate occupation by Zara”, the proposal said.
A pair of new signs have been put forward for approval, but Bath Preservation Trust has raised concerns about their contrast with the city’s Georgian core. They said the “illuminated” signage would be to the detriment of Bath’s night-time atmosphere.
The trust added that more detail should be supplied on what the new signs would look like and how they would fit in with the city’s existing architecture.
