Join our band and learn joy of music

-

The effect of Covid-19 on children’s academic education has been well documented, but what is perhaps less obvious is the effect it has had on music ensembles for both young and old. Take, for example, the Bath Youth Folk Band.

Before Covid struck, the group had a constant trickle of musicians joining the junior band, who would develop their skills and then naturally progress into the senior band.

At the height of the pandemic, the bands had to stop rehearsing completely, for months on end, and no players joined.

As a result Bath Youth Folk Band (BYFB) is now seeking new members (aged 8-18) to join them at their monthly rehearsals, held in Larkhall on the second Saturday of each month.

We would be delighted to hear from young musicians who might be interested in having some fun, playing music together with this friendly group and developing their ability to arrange

their own music and play by ear.

Covid-19 hindered the development of social and interpersonal skills in children and young adults.

But playing music together is a great way of re-establishing those key skills, helping to rebuild the confidence and well-being of our young people.

To find out more about what Bath Youth Folk Band does or to book the band for a local event please check out our facebook page www.facebook.

We would love your young people to join our band, but if they can’t join us, then please do encourage them to join another music ensemble and learn the joy which music can bring in these troubled times!
