Larks’ season yet to get off ground
Larkhall Athletic have made a disappointing start to the season with two defeats.
The Larks lost 0-1 at home to Tavistock on Saturday after a 6th minute goal from Benjamin Cross.
They followed up on Tuesday night with a 4-2 loss at Bishops Cleeve.
■ Western League
In the Western League Premier Division on Saturday, Cornish outfit Millbrook enjoyed home comforts, with Dave Youlden and Sean Thomson both notching in their 2-0 win over Bitton.
In an entertaining game at Marlborough Park, Ilfracombe claimed a 4-2 win over Keynsham to condemn their visitors to a fourth straight defeat.
Goals from Owen Brain and debutant Sahr Nanoh twice levelled affairs for the Ks, but they were unable to hang on, with Harry Stevens’ double, plus further efforts from John Downing and sub Charlie Prentice leading Ilfracombe to victory.
In the First Division, Warminster have made a surprisingly poor start, suffering a 2-1 defeat against Odd Down on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Luke Bryan and Jake Thomas put the Bath side in charge, and despite Ian Jeffery dispatching a late penalty, Warminster were unable to find an equaliser and remain without a point after three matches.
Brislington continue to look the business at this level, after they survived an early red card to defeat Bishop Sutton 1-0 at Ironmould Lane.
Joe Mclennan was given his marching orders inside the opening quarter of the contest, but the home side’s perseverance paid off when they scored the game’s elusive goal ten minutes from time thanks to a curled finish from Jordan Scadding.
On Tuesday night, Bitton lost 1-2 at home to Ashton & Backwell while Keynsham drew 2-2 with Welton Rovers.
Bitton travel to high-flying Bridgwater on Saturday, while Keynsham are away at Saltash.
In Division One, Odd Down had a comfortable 5-2 home win over Gillingham Town.

Blunsdon were playing their first ever game at this level away at Odd Down Development and, whilst they had the better of the limited chances in the first half, they found themselves trailing at the break to a Jack O’brien headed goal from a corner midway through the half.
In difficult conditions, with the flow of the game disjointed by the regular drinks breaks, Blunsdon were back on level terms 20 minutes from time, Elliott Wheatley curling a free kick from outside the box round the wall with the shot going in off the post for 1-1.
Both sides created chances for a possible winner and Odd Down had a penalty shout denied by the referee but, in the end, the two sides had to settle for a point apiece.
Jamie Jordan’s Trowbridge Town side had ended last season with a 12-game unbeaten run, 11 of which had been won.
The manager had also done some astute recruitment during the summer bringing in last season’s top scorer from Corsham Town Development, Ben Wickens, to add to his already potent attacking force.
Installed as favourites for the title ahead of the season Trowbridge did not disappoint another three figure crowd with a big opening day win over Calne Town Reserves and it was new signing Wickens who did most of the damage.
Josh Howlett got Trowbridge on their way with the opener 16 minutes in, before Wickens extended the Trowbridge lead four minutes later.
Calne pulled one back five minutes later through Max Wyatt but Wickens restored the two goal advantage. There was still time for a further Trowbridge goal before the break, George Bendle firing in for 4-1 and a comfortable half time lead for the title favourites.
There was no let up after the break and Wickens scored twice more to take his tally for the day to four, a second from Bendle completing the list of scorers in an impressive 7-1 win for Trowbridge.
