Bath beef up squad with second rows
Bath Rugby have confirmed the signing of a pair of locks in the past two weeks, bringing in men on two different ends of the experience spectrum.
Ireland international Quinn Roux has arrived as injury cover for Charlie Ewels after the Bath skipper suffered a knee injury on international duty with England this summer, while 6ft 7in lock Michael Etete has been added to the books after a successful trial.
Roux was born in South Africa and won the 2012 Vodacom Cup with Western Province and earned Super
Rugby caps for the Stormers before switching to Leinster for two seasons.
His time in Dublin began a sevenyear stint in Irish rugby mostly spent in Galway at Connacht where he made over 100 provincial appearances and appeared 16 times for Ireland.
The 31-year-old moved to RC Toulon in the summer of 2021 and featured on 14 occasions for the Top 14 outfit in his debut campaign.
Etete, 25, who can also play in the back row, has featured in National 1 for both Leeds Tykes and Rams RFC over the past couple of seasons as well as starring in BUCS Super Rugby with Leeds Beckett University RFC. He linked up with the Blue, Black and White on day one of preseason for an initial threeweek period and has earned his first opportunity at Gallagher Premiership level. “We have been really pleased with Michael’s attitude and application so far in pre-season,” head of rugby Johann van Graan, inset, said.
“He has outstanding physical attributes and a strong desire to develop all facets of his game.”
