A FAMILIAR face to soap fans arrives on the Cobbles next week – Gabrielle Glaister who played Patricia farnham in Brookside.
She plays fern who arrives at Bernie’s house accusing her of theft following a mix up over a parcel collection involving Joseph’s new school uniform.
The women are struck by how alike they are and the following week fern offers Bernie a dodgy way of earning some money.
Actress Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie, suggested the idea of her character having a double after she and Gabrielle were always being mistaken for one another.
She says: “We have often laughed about it together but then I started thinking it might be fun to have her in the show as Bernie’s secret twin or a doppelganger.
“I was so chuffed when they told me that they had devised this storyline and that Gabby was on board.” Elsewhere, Kelly and Aadi decide to pose as an engaged couple in order to win a free holiday from the Gazette. But as they spend time together, one thing leads to another, and the pair grow close for real. Sadly, a misunderstanding over an engagement ring looks set to put the kibosh on everything.
