Famous feud to rage on at Egg

-

A classic Spanish play opens tonight at The Egg theatre, performed by students from Bath.

Members of the Theatre School Summer Company will bring their signature bold style when they present Blood Wedding, from tonight, August 25 until Sunday, August 28, with a run of six performances.

“Fast-paced, passionate, full of threat and brooding, Blood Wedding is arguably Lorca’s most famous play,” said director Sophie Jacobswyburn. “Popular around the world and an established classic of Spanish theatre, the play was inspired by the true story of a fatal blood feud, glimpsed in a newspaper article by Lorca, then legendarily fleshed out in a poetic piece of drama in less than a week.”

Set in Andalucia, this work from Federico Garcia Lorca tells the story of a bride who decides between love and duty – and unleashes ancient feuds set to tear her community apart.

Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Royal Box Office on 01225 448844, The Egg on 01225 823409 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk/ whats-on/
