Gardens suffering from overall neglect
Living adjacent to Sydney Gardens, I was fascinated to read the article you printed about its “revamp” (“Join the fun to mark revamp of city gardens”, August 18).
I agree that the new facilities are excellent but, unfortunately, the rest of the gardens are in a spectacularly unkempt condition. In a World Heritage City, visitors’ view of the overall neglect must give a most depressing impression, with shrubs and once beautiful yew trees allowed to overgrow and harbour some of the biggest weeds known to man, everywhere a general feeling of uncaring – completely the wrong message.
It is high time Bath’s parks were properly maintained in keeping with Bath’s international fame.
