Fix energy price cap at current level

-

Profits make companies viable. Excessive or obscene profits, as reported by national/international energy supply companies, often benefit those who do not actually need them, but they are entitled to “normal” dividends.

Any proposed windfall taxes levied on these companies would take ages to be paid and we would not know the amounts, or whether they were in fact paid.

Ofgem (the industry regulator) seems to have become the Office of General (or perhaps Government) Manipulation, and plans to increase the energy price cap. I ask the simple question... WHY?

Surely the way forward at this moment to assist millions of people, as well as saving the costs of implementing yet another scheme, is to leave the price cap where it is and make any increase in costs to be covered/absorbed by these energy supply companies.

Or is that too simplistic?
