Ohren and Tuffs lift trophies

Bath Archers staged their 64th Bath Hereford tournament at their archery ground in Batheaston.

A Hereford archery round involves shooting 6 dozen arrows at 80 yards, 4 dozen at 60 yards, and 2 dozen at 50 yards.

The competitio­n which took place in very hot, sunny conditions attracted over 30 archers from across the South West and Wales.

Bath’s Stuart Ohren and Paul Tuffs emerged as victors in the Gents Recurve and Longbow sections.

Ohren scored 1056 points out of a total possible of 1296.

Tuffs longbow score was 413, a high score for longbow.

Among the other trophy winners were Christa Eynam of Lantamam and Val Leveridge of Coastal Archers who won the Ladies Recurve and Longbow cups respective­ly.

Rod White, tournament organiser, said: “What a great day’s shooting we had, in spite of the blistering heat.

“There were some excellent scores and we were pleased so many archers from other clubs attended.

“My particular thanks go to Riki Teml for his excellent work as judge on the day. Our inter-club competitio­ns are always a highlight of the year.’
