Roadworks will see A46 close

-

The A46 into Bath will close overnight for roadworks on at least two occasions this autumn.

One Network, a website showing the roadworks planned across England up to one year in advance, reports that delays will be likely when the key route from the M4 to London Road is shut. The work will take place in November, between 9pm and 5am each day.

Two closures are planned, with contingency dates pencilled in for the days afterwards. On the first occasion, the A46 will be out of action in both directions from the Cold Ashton roundabout to London Road for three nights between November 7 and 10.

If the work is not completed by November 10, the closure will remain in place overnight until November 12. The nature of the roadworks is not known.

The second time the A46 will close will be between November 14 and 17 – again overnight. This is to allow for drainage works, and the section between Cold Ashton roundabout and the M4 junction 18 will be shut both ways. A diversion route via the A420, A4174, A432 and A46 has been suggested.

If the work is not completed by November 17, the overnight closure will be extended by two days.
