House that for monster experience

- Edward O’neill edward.o’neill@reachplc.com

Some unsettling and hopefully enjoyable nights out will be creeping people out in Gay Street later on next month.

Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein will present its first ‘After Dark’ nights to die for.

Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in an intense multisensory horror event exclusively for adults from the world-first attraction devoted to Mary Shelley and her formidable 8ft-tall creation.

Set over five floors in a period town house in the centre of Bath, people will navigate in darkness, encountering the horrors of purgatory on their way.

Imprisoned within the darkened rooms of 37 Gay Street dwell the most wretched of souls unworthy of redemption. They are the unforgiven and their fate is eternal damnation.

The events are expected to be thrilling:

■ the Creature, a world-first 8ft animatronic recreation of Frankenstein’s monster as Mary Shelley imagined, will be there to meet guests

■ visitors can venture through the house in darkness and face the harbingers of suffering trapped forever in purgatory

■ featuring live actors, special effects and aromaxscapes, people will brave the dank underbelly of the house in the X-treme basement walkthrough experience

■ they will try to decipher the ramblings of an unhinged mind within Victor’s attic Escape Room to unlock their freedom.

The clock will be ticking in the Escape Room as the visitors try to find their way out.

Victor Frankenstein’s miserable attic quarters are strewn with insane equations, strange artefacts and miscellaneous body parts.

He is close to unlocking the mysteries of life and requires just a few key components to fulfil his maniacal quest. Having coerced you into his quarters with promises of riches beyond your wildest dreams, it’s actually your vital organs he’s after!

Participants will have just one hour to unravel the ramblings of a madman and discover the equation that not only reveals the mystery of life itself but, more critically, their way out to freedom. The Escape Room is a puzzle-based game suitable for families, friends and groups.

Extending over four atmospheric floors, visitors to the house can immerse themselves in Mary Shelley’s complex and often calamitous past while they uncover the true story behind one of the world’s favourite creatures.

Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein ‘After Dark’ will run from 6pm to 10pm from Friday, October 21 to Monday, October 31.

Throughout October and all through the year, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein is still offering its classic experience from 10am to 5pm, with the last entry at 4pm.

After Dark Tickets cost £15 per person, not including the Escape Room. Escape Room tickets cost from £26pp.
