Soothing cocktails after night of horror

-

Drinkers and party-goers have their first chance to sample the wares of perhaps the most unusual bar in Bath at Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein from October 21 to 31.

Bloody Mary’s Bar will be open throughout the After Dark event nights. It is a uniquely themed, intimate and highly atmospheric bar in the heart of the house, featuring live actors, special effects and disturbing aromascapes.

Visitors can seek refuge here before or after their terrifying visit, or simply pop in for a horrifyingly good cocktail, including The Pink Percy, The Mad-bad-byron and, of course, Bath’s best Bloody Mary, served by a Gothic character bartenders.

Their ingredients are:

■ Bloody Mary – classic ‘Mary’ expertly blended with tomato juice, vodka, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, a dash of soy, Tabasco pepper sauce and top secret salts

■ The Pink Percy – inspired by

‘Professor’ Jerry Thomas’s 1862 champagne cocktail, this updated recipe comprises Prosecco, triple sec, cognac, Angostura bitters and sugar

■ The Mad Bad Byron – based on the classic Manhattan Moscow mule, the Mad Bad Byron delivers a punch of vodka, Fever Tree ginger ale, fresh lime juice hot

sauce and Angostura bitters.

The After Dark events will serve as the launch party for Bloody Mary’s Bar, after which it will open every day to Bath residents and evening visitors to the city.

All cocktails cost £8 and a selection of wine, beers, ciders and spirits is also on offer to house guests.
